Spa At Home / My Top 5 Tips For SelfCare

At the moment most days roll into each other and our daily routines have changed, ALOT! Some love being out of the daily routine and are loving the stay at home life while others struggle and need new ways to incorporate self care into our daily lifestyle, to feel active at home and relaxed at home. It is important to find a balance that works for you.

Here are my top 5 tips for self care and turn ‘stay at home’ to ‘spa at home’!

My 5 Top Tips For Self Care

01

Candle Gazing

Start the day with good vibes. There are three words that I think of in the morning. Gratitude, Growth & Goals. This centres my day. To appreciate what I have and what I have achieved and where I want to be and what I want to achieve. It can be in the simple things and once a week I set aside 5 extra minutes, to light a candle. If you find it hard to sit, this is a great way to connect. Find a comfortable place, a yoga mat is good and as little as a tea light a foot in front of you. Connect with the warmth of the candle, the beautiful amber light. Can you see other colours? Watch the way it sways and moves with your breathe as you breathe deeper and with intention. Breathe in the love and light and as you exhale you let go of worries, anxiety and fear. Repeat this as much as you need. Finish with another deep breath, taking in your daily intention and goals, feel grateful for the day ahead and as you blow out the candle we release any emotions we want to let go of. A simple and beautiful way to show yourself self care and self love.

02

Eucalyptus Shower

The smell of eucalyptus is invigorating. It can uplift the spirits and is well known for its healing ability for cold and flu. Eucalyptus plants contain components with antibacterial and antiseptic properties. One of these components is called cineole and can ease coughs, and aids other common respiratory issues. A fabulous addition to a pamper bath ritual but for an everyday experience of self care, try 2 drops of eucalyptus essential oil into the shower tray or even better if you can get your hands on some fresh or dry foliage to hang in the shower, available at MilkBath.ie. It will last for weeks and create the ultimate ‘spa at home’ experience.

03

Glow Everyday

One of the plus’s to spending more time at home MUST be that we can pop a little facial mask on at any time and give our skin some much needed TLC. I can’t think of anything better! There are so many to choose from, from clay masks, cleansing and hydrating masks but for the ultimate self care treat and skin boost, I always opt for a Sheet Mask. They are packed with concentrated ingredients and are normally mainly water based so they are easily absorbed and you see the instant results. So whether it is a zoom date, a work group meeting or some self love for your skin. You cannot go wrong. P.S, try using a jade roller or rose quartz gua sha stone to aid in toning and sculpting. You can pop it into the fridge to give your skin an extra refreshing boost and help push all those skin loving ingredients into your skin. Bliss x

Ambiance

If you are at home all day, it can be hard to switch off from housework, to work, to childcare to sleep. Creating a different ambiance in your main living and sleep areas can be helpful to feel you are going into a different environment and help prepare for a working day or a good night sleep. Diffusers tick all the boxes and again add the ‘spa at home’ experience into your daily lives. They come in every shape, colour and material. A diffuser can be an investment but you can change the mood and scent of a room in an instant. For daytime, try using an uplifting colour like green, orange or yellow. You can choose an oil blend to help with mood, concentration or immune boosting. For the evening, you could choose red, amber or a blue hue for a cosy feel, relaxation and sleep blends to help wind down so you feel you are in different environments within your home. It is a great way to add some self care into your day.

05

Massage

Some simple facial massage movements at the end of your nighttime skincare routine can help to reduce puffiness, improve circulations and help drain the lymphatic system. Our night time skincare routine is probably the most important step we can do for our skin. At the end of a long day, there is nothing better than feeling like you are cleansing off the day. Start with a beautiful oil cleanser to remove any grimme, spf and make up. Try our Enzyme Cleansing Oil ÁNANN to start your night time routine off right. Continue with a second cleanse, tone and follow with your preferred creams. I highly recommend finishing with a beautiful facial oil like MARA OR BLATH to lock in your previous serums and creams and help repair your skin barrier. Your facial oil is also perfect to carry out your facial massage so you can glide over the skin in upwards movements without pulling the skin. Remember to include your decollete, neck and up onto the face. Set your skincare and beauty intention as well as taking in the day. Just like we started creating gratitude, growth and goals.

These are just some quick and easy tips for self care that help you reflect on your own wellbeing. You can choose the values that are important to you and help enhance your daily routines with some daily self care to boost Mind, Body & Spirit.
